John T. Hudson

John T. Hudson has practiced law in his hometown of Salisbury since 1985. His work as an attorney is concentrated in the areas of Estate and Trust Administration and Settlements, Wills, Trusts, Power of Attorneys, Real Estate Closings and Settlements, associated Tax Matters, related court proceedings and Special Proceedings.
He is a founding partner with the Salisbury firm of Shelby, Pethel, & Hudson, PA. He serves as town attorney for the Town of Faith, the Town of Rockwell and the Town of Cleveland. He has served the citizens and the court system of Rowan County since 1991, as the Rowan County Public Administrator, under the administration of five Clerks of Superior Court. On many occasions, he has represented and worked with up to five generations of numerous local families.
He was sworn in as a member of the NC State Bar in Superior Court, Rowan County, August 1985, where he was presented to the court by attorney James G. Hudson, Jr., and by Judge Larry G. Ford, who later became his law partner. He served a one-year clerkship to Justice Burley B. Mitchell, North Carolina Supreme Court.
John was born and raised in Rowan County, grew up in the Fulton Heights neighborhood, and graduated from the Salisbury City Schools. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina State University at Raleigh, his Juris Doctor Degree from Campbell University School of Law in Buies Creek, NC, and his Master of Laws (LL.M) in Taxation with a concentration in estate planning from the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa, AL.
He is a member of and Past Master of Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge # 576, Rowan Shrine Club, Oasis Shrine, Salisbury York Rite Bodies, and the Salisbury Kiwanis Club. He has served as a board member to numerous local boards and charitable organizations.
A lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Salisbury, he is the father of two adult daughters and three grandchildren.
