Kathryn “Katie” Setzer

Kathryn “Katie” C. Setzer was proudly born at Rowan Memorial Hospital, attended Overton, Henderson, Knox schools and graduated from Salisbury High School. She has a B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her time at UNC-CH, she attended the Lorenzo di Medici Institute in Florence, Italy, and studied painting. 

She has her Juris Doctorate from Campbell University and has been licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina since 2003 and in the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of the U.S. Districts of North Carolina. 

She clerked at the N.C. Court of Appeals as a Clerk for Judge John Tyson. She then began working with Shelby, Pethel, and Hudson, P.A., and is now a partner. Over the years, she has served on many committees and boards in Rowan County to give back to what was so generously bestowed upon her as a child, such as Piedmont Players Theater, Rowan Museum, Red Cross, Local Bar President, various volunteer roles at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, and Sacred Heart Catholic School Board Chair. 

She is presently on the Board of Directors at Waterworks Visual Art Center and is on the Altar Guild and is a Children’s Church volunteer at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. She fiercely loves the law and upholding its values, as well as her community.
